About Kareem Kandil
Democratic Candidate for State Representative in District 30
Kareem moved from North Carolina to O'Hara Township to attend O’Hara Elementary School. He then graduated from Fox Chapel Area High School and studied Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh. After graduation, Kareem worked primarily in healthcare as an engineer and as a lab/research assistant to increase efficiency and drive down costs in a chronically wasteful system.
Known for his activism within the local Muslim community and related minority networks, Kareem also works as part of the broader push for progressive policies in the Pittsburgh region. Kareem volunteered on the Bernie Sanders presidential campaign during the 2016 primary and campaigned for Hillary Clinton in the general election.
Kareem is running for State Representative so that he may positively shape Pennsylvania’s state policies to benefit the people within his home community. District 30 needs a State Representative committed to improving the school systems, environmental matter, and physical and mental health needs relevant to the community. Kareem Kandil is enthusiastic about serving his community and acting as a positive force for change.
